So, I have made my sentiments known about this lovely class titled "Cultural Diversity in America". Firstly, I would like to point out that it is incorrectly named. It implies that we discuss Culture. That is definitely not what we talk about. Mostly, it is a guilt trip to a bunch of white college kids about how we have somehow oppressed colored people by essence of our whiteness. A more correct name for it would be "Racial Diversity in America" or "Racial Oppression in America" or better yet "How Everything is the White Person's Fault and Victimization Leads to the End of Racialization." But that is probably too long for the course catalog. What really got me today was her 15 minute lecture on the proper way to take notes in her class. Yes, she now is dictating how we should take notes. Because, somehow, we were intelligent enough to get into college, but somehow, we can't manage to write down what she puts up for us on slides. So now, I am racist and unintelligent. Good to know.
Oh, and a shout out to the awesome kid who sits behind me in that class. I say, "because this class can't get anymore liberal..." and he says "I totally agree with you". I'm glad not everybody thinks I'm crazy.
I love to hear your feedback! Please don't hesitate to comment :)

Dear Occupiers
Dear Occupiers,
A vacant building doesn't equal a free place for you bums to squat while you are continuing to burden our country and the people around you. Believe it or not, you don't own the world, and the world doesn't owe you anything. Crazy, I know. As I have lamented multiple times before, leaving your little protest grounds AND GETTING A JOB will benefit you a lot more in the long run.
ALSO, throwing bricks at the window of a car dealership will not affect the people you are attempting to protest against. A) because they are too busy working to notice and B) THEY DON'T CARE!! They don't have to pay for the cars you vandalize. YOU DO!! Please stop pretending you are doing the world a favor by sitting around and whining about your plight in life. No one is hurting you. You are just hurting your reputation (translation: you are making yourselves look like idiots). Please vacateyour the parks you insist on squatting in, and occupy a workplace (translation: GET A JOB).
Thank you very much,
Abbs

ummm... Obama? Awkward choice.
So let's talk about the latest stupidity by President Obama. Yes, I am talking about his misguided choice to block the Keystone Pipeline. He and Secretary Clinton decided together that the pipeline was not in the best interest of the nation. Soooo, the unemployment rate and our ridiculous reliance on foreign oil doesn't necessitate a new plan that would create jobs in the private sector AND reduce our reliance on countries that DON'T have our best interests at heart? And THEN, the President goes so far as to blame the Republicans in Congress for trying to force the President's hand saying,
"Earlier today, I received the secretary of state's recommendation on the pending application for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. As the State Department made clear last month, the rushed and arbitrary deadline insisted on by congressional Republicans prevented a full assessment of the pipeline's impact, especially the health and safety of the American people, as well as our environment. As a result, the secretary of state has recommended that the application be denied. And after reviewing the State Department's report, I agree," Obama said."This announcement is not a judgment on the merits of the pipeline, but (on) the arbitrary nature of a deadline that prevented the State Department from gathering the information necessary to approve the project and protect the American people," Obama added. "I'm disappointed that Republicans in Congress forced this decision, but it does not change my administration's commitment to American-made energy that creates jobs and reduces our dependence on oil. Under my administration, domestic oil and natural gas production is up, while imports of foreign oil are down. In the months ahead, we will continue to look for new ways to partner with the oil and gas industry to increase our energy security — including the potential development of an oil pipeline from Cushing, Oklahoma to the Gulf of Mexico — even as we set higher efficiency standards for cars and trucks and invest in alternatives like biofuels and natural gas. And we will do so in a way that benefits American workers and businesses without risking the health and safety of the American people and the environment."
American oil production is up? I think many people would BEG to differ. According to Transcanada.com (the sponsor of the pipeline), America imports 10-11 million barrels of oil each DAY! and not necessarily from friendly faces. That is wayyyy too much. I'm still at a loss to see how this was a bad idea. It seems like a fantastic idea to me. Hopefully Obama and Clinton figure out their REAL reasons for blocking this, then re-evaluate their real motives for blocking it, or stop pretending that they actually have the America's best interest at heart.

Reflections on diversity
Okay,I am now over yesterday's rant. It was most certainly an angry rant. Now I can take a step back and really analyze the events that took place in that video. No doubt about it, it made me angry. Many Americans today carry an entitlement mentality that will not help, but hurt, the American mind set. This documentary showed the perpetuation of this mindset. Some of these students were angry that they were set apart, but expected something from the people around them. I've learned on multiple occasions that the easiest way to disappoint yourself is to have expectations from people or the world. Nobody owes you anything. We need to earn what we get. We also see on the other hand that not everyone gets what they deserve, but in the long run, you can't lose by putting the effort in to get what you want. No free lunch. I do think racism is a very sad thing that still plagues our country, but I honestly believe that it is something we will grow out of in the generations to come; but again, it is everyone's burden. We all need to take it upon ourselves to do the right thing and treat people as humans, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
I'm forever grateful for this freedom to speak about issues in our world. I know people may take offense, but that is the beautiful thing about America. We are all able to speak our opinions and respond to others. I welcome the chance to discuss these issues with people!

Cultural Diversity In America...
So I'm enrolled in a required class this semester called Cultural Diversity in America. Going into it, I figured it was going to be a liberal rant about how oppressed minorities in America are. WELL, I was right. 100%. Today we watched a video entitled "What's Race got to do with it?" Basically, it was a group of students at UC/Berkeley of all different races coming together to discuss racism in America. It ended up being a sob story about how unfortunate it is to be a minority in America. And people pay money for this kind of stuff. wow.
I see myself as a very open minded individual. I'm certainly NOT racist. Or I didn't think I was. According to this video, I am.
http://newsreel.org/video/WHATS-RACE-GOT-TO-DO-WITH-IT
PLEASE go watch this. You will understand the entirety of my rant.
Maybe I took the wrong approach to this entire video, but it definitely seemed to me that the two white girls were demonized for being white.
I honestly don't think anybody has it so bad off that they are entitled to complain about it to the world. Everybody was dealt a card, but the beautiful thing about America is the fact that any individual can reach the place they want to be with effort on their part. Look at Barack Obama. Born to a single mother and raised in a less than desirable neighborhood, he worked hard and now is the leader of the free world. I totally admire him for that. Being black didn't seem to hold him back from that. Race shouldn't hold anyone back. Act like the person you want to be, not how someone profiles you. We've always heard that it doesn't matter what other people think, so true! Anyone can be anything they want to be! But it requires effort! This entitlement mentality doesn't achieve dreams. Only hard work and dedication will get you to the place that you want to be!
The thing that really got me about this video was the fact that a few of these students unloaded the fault of racism on the white students, like it was somehow personally their fault that racism still existed. But while they did that they continued to categorize themselves!! One kid, David, was born to Mexican parents and lived in a poor neighborhood. Understandable, but he kept referring to himself and the Mexican population as "his people", as if they were set apart. News flash buddy, you are an American citizen! We are ALL your people. That is another wonderful thing about America. Our ancestors (near or distant) came to America. People can retain their identities and cultures, but they become Americans. Americans are their people. No one is categorizing them but themselves. You are an American, which makes you a majority in America. Not a minority. Crazy I know.
There are many other aspects of this video that I could go on about, but watch it. You can come up with your own rants that probably closely resemble mine.
Thanks for listening to the latest rant. Maybe a happier topic next time! Please follow my page! I would love it.
much love!

Promises, Obamises.
Borrowed from my favorite blog... chicksontheright.com
awkward? This has basically embodied President Obama's entire Presidency. He made promises in his campaign in which he had no intention or no ability to keep. Hopefully his "followers" have finally realized and won't be fooled again.

My boys
Today, this is less political and more about life. Life as in the Denver Broncos, more importantly, Tim Tebow.
Basically, stop hating on my boys. Especially Tim Tebow. So far, he has shown himself to be a good guy. He may not always be like that, but lets take him for what he is now. A team player who has devoted his life and career to Jesus. What is wrong with that? That's right, nothing. Please stop whining about how you "hate him" or how he is "exploiting Jesus". Because basically... he is awesome. And he makes for some pretty awesome football games.
That is all,
much love

New Start
I completely lost inspiration when it came to just the whole Occupy Wall Street thing. So I will broaden my horizons. Don't worry, I will definitely include rants on our favorite Occupiers, but I would like to encompass more things, so this is my outlet! More to come!
Much love!
